About the Course
Great River Golf Club is an 18-hole championship golf course located in Milford, CT. Built in 2001 by renown golf architect Tom Fazio II, this modern architectural design has a balanced mix of links and parkland playing characteristics. With the course built along the Housatonic River, players are challenged with water or native penalty areas on every hole, forcing golfers to be precise with their tee shots and skillfully creative with their approach shots. The par 72 course plays just over 7,000 yards from the championship tees and features one of the hardest sets of par 3’s in the state.
The Housatonic River also provides a constant breeze across the course that turns an already difficult course, into one that will challenge the best players shot shaping and course management skills. Relief will not come from the putting greens as these subtle green contours will require your full attention with every putt.
Sacred Heart University purchased Great River Golf Club in 2016 and is now the home of their Division 1 men’s & women’s golf program. Since it’s creation, Great River is constantly ranked as one of the best courses in Connecticut.

The 3,000-square-foot Shop at Great River is stocked with an extensive collection of fine golf apparel, shoes, equipment, and accessories by Callaway, Mizuno, PING, Titleist, FootJoy, and Ecco. The Shop features stylish sportswear and business looks as well. Designer collections from Travis Matthew, johnnie-O, Peter Millar, Under Armour, and Vineyard Vines are featured and rotated seasonally.
Custom golf equipment is always available. Custom golf clubs are a great way to maximize your investment in equipment. Make an appointment through our shop for a fitting or watch this page in the spring for the equipment manufacturers’ Demo Days. That is by far the best way to try all the new equipment and be fitted by our pros. Custom fitting includes tailoring clubs to your height, swing speed, the angle at which your club face hits the ball, and many other elements of your personal swing.
The Shop at Great River is here to assist customers in Westport, Orange, Fairfield, New Haven, Stamford, Norwalk, CT, and beyond with their tee times, lessons, shopping, special orders, and all our other services. Don’t hesitate to inquire about special requests for products and services. We welcome orders for custom logos or personalized golf balls, golf bags, and apparel. Keep in mind that personalization does take some time, so please plan accordingly!
