Tommy Fazio, the golf course is challenging and awe-inspiring. In 2005 Great River was named #2 Top Rated Golf Course in the State of Connecticut and ranked #34 on America's 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses List by Golf Digest Magazine.
Twelve holes involve a water challenge, with six of those bordering the Housatonic River. Proximity to the river creates unusual winds that add complexity to judging your shots.
The front nine holes weave through wooded terrain, with the back nine exhibiting a links
style layout. On the front nine you will travel over one of seven wooden bridges as you approach the third green with its intimidating bunkers. A thirty-foot waterfall cascades
just off the eleventh hole, making it a rewarding and challenging 218 yards.
